Help Needed - Search & Rescue
Veterinary Technicians/nurses
Tampa Bay Search & Rescue and Manatee County Search and Rescue has asked for assistance. Bay Area DART and other CVTs have assisted these groups in the past as veterinary medical support for the HRD K9s that are an integral part of the searches.
If you are available for the next upcoming search on June 5 - June 6, 2010, please email Robyn Bresette, CVT at

with your availability or if you have any questions.
This weekend will mark the one year anniversary of Tracy Ocasio. Tracy was last seen on 5/27/09.
The search will be conducted in a 400 acre area in the Ocoee area. As vet support you would be following instructions under a team leader and would assist with basic PE of each of the dogs before they go into the field and when they return, cool down when necessary, monitor hydration and temperature status and administer fluids when needed and handle any BASIC MINOR cuts, scrapes and or abrasions. Some of the techs have gone into the field with the handlers and some stay at the Command Post.
I would strongly advise that if you wish to assist, that you go online and take ICS 100 as these searches fall under the Incident Command System. http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/IS100A.asp
Thanks - I hope that you might take the time out of your busy lives to assist with this search. It means so much to the families of those that have not been found. It brings hope and sometimes closure. And the dogs and their handlers are extremely appreciative.
