The HCC Veterinary Technology Program celebrated its second graduating class on May 6th, when 20 new graduates received their Associate of Science degrees during HCC’s 42nd Annual Commencement.  One week earlier, on April 28th, the new veterinary technician candidates received their veterinary technician’s pins and took their professional oath.

The pinning ceremony has become a popular new tradition in the HCC program, and many proud family members and friends attended this year’s event.  The veterinary technology community has good reason to be extremely proud of our graduating students and many of them have already obtained positions in local practices.  We all wish them the best of luck as they take their Veterinary Technicians National Examination this summer.

Also, this year HCC received 62 applications for the class of 2013; acceptance letters were sent to 36 individuals.  Not only was this a record number of applications for the HCC program, but the quality of the applicants was extremely high.  The average GPA for general education prerequisites for the accepted applicants was an astonishing 3.67.

Meanwhile, this summer, members of the Class of 2012 are continuing with their third term by taking classes with Dr. Vincent Centonze and Ms. Anderson, CVT, in Clinical Pathology lecture, Clinical Pathology Lab, and Work Experience externships.  So some of you may see them around your clinics during the summer.

Other new happenings include the acquisition of a new classroom.  The veterinary technology program now occupies the entire north end of the John R. Trinkle Center at the Plant City Campus.  You’re all welcomed to stop by and visit our new facilities.  If you would like to do so, or if you would like more information about our program, please contact Dr. Vincent Centonze at (813) 757-2145 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (813) 757-2145      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (813) 757-2145      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or email at vcentonze@hccfl.edu  or Ms. Carrie Jo Anderson, CVT, at (813) 757-2141 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (813) 757-2141      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or email at canderson2@hccfl.edu .
