City College
The Veterinary Technology Program at City College is a comprehensive entry-level program designed to prepare the student for a career as a veterinary technician. Students will take a variety of didactic and hands-on clinical courses, covering all of the areas in which technicians will be expected to perform in the workplace. Externships performed at working clinics will provide “real-life” scenarios of a demanding clinical environment. The integration of lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice will help the student transition from the academic/clinical environment into the workplace upon graduation.

St. Petersburg College
St. Petersburg College offers a four-year degree program in Veterinary Technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This program is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to become administrators and leaders in the veterinary technology field.
The Veterinary Technology Associate in Science Degree Program from St. Petersburg College is AVMA accredited and available by distance learning. Veterinary hospital employees can earn the veterinary technician degree without giving up full time jobs or moving to St. Petersburg. Students applying to the Distance Education Program must meet the admission requirements, must have completed 18 of the 22 credits of general education & support courses, including all communications, math and biology courses, be computer literate, and must be working at least 20 hours per week for a veterinary hospital or veterinarian in order to be able to fulfill the Lab Requirement portions of the classes. Applicants should also be computer literate. It is helpful to have a personal computer and modem at home, but some students are using only the veterinary hospital computers. Students may start courses in August, January, or May.
